If Leadership Is a Game, These Are the Rules
The twelve rules for effective leadership
by Steve Gilliland
|
|
Several years ago, STEVE GILLILAND, CSP, composed a list of basic truths about leadership, which he named The Twelve Rules for Effective Leadership. Right away, the rules resonated with his clients, who photocopied and passed the list to coworkers and friends. Although there is no formula to help you win the game of "leadership," Steve's rules convey a universal wisdom that, once understood and embraced, can contribute to meaningful relationships with ourselves and others - at work and in the home. If Leadership is a Game, These are the Rules will teach you the rules so you can conquer leadership's challenges and manage its unpredictable ups and downs.
Rule 1 - Match your actions to your beliefs.
Rule 2 - Learn to think on a new level.
Rule 3 - Lead with purpose.
Rule 4 - Become credible.
Rule 5 - Catch people doing something good.
Rule 6 - Make everything a process.
Rule 7 - Hold people accountable.
Rule 8 - See beyond the horizon.
Rule 9 - Care enough to know.
Rule 10 - Hire people for who they are.
Rule 11 - Accept life on life's terms.
Rule 12 - Decide what's important.
"Steve Gilliland understands what it takes to be a leader, and puts it within reach with ‘If Leadership is a Game, These are the Rules.'"
